Dover 40 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Gastric, Intestinal or pyloric spasm
• Cholelithiasis and spastic constipation
• Relief of tenesmus in dysentery
• Dysmenorrhea
• Peripheral vascular disorders

Pharmacology

• Rapid onset of action
• Spasmolytic and vasodilatory actions
• Selective blockage of cardiac beta-receptors
• Readily absorbed from the intestine

Dosage & Administration

• Usual dose for adults is 1 to 2 tablets three times daily
• Injection subcutaneously or intramuscularly
• Smaller doses for children according to age and body weight
• Combining with atropine or atropine-like compounds in peptic ulcer

Interaction

• May attenuate the action of levodopa
• Concurrent use of analgesics, antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines
• Additive beneficial effect with concurrent use of analgesics, antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines

Contraindications

• Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Drotaverine HCl

Side Effects

• Rare cases of nausea and vertigo

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No known case of teratogenicity in animal studies
• Avoid use during pregnancy and lactation

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution for patients suffering from liver and kidney disease
