Side Effects
- Little toxicity
- Mega-doses may cause diarrhea

- Mega-doses may cause hemolysis in patients with glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
- Mega-doses more than 5 gm/day may cause fetal abortion in pregnant women
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safe in normal doses in pregnant women
- Daily intake of 5 gm or more may cause abortion
- Safe during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Ingestion of megadose during pregnancy may result in scurvy in neonates
- Mega-doses contraindicated for patients with hyperoxaluria
- Reactive substance in the redox system
- Can lead to false positive reactions in certain analytical tests
