Pharmacology
- Rapid onset of action
- Direct action on smooth muscle fibers

Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 1-2 tablets three times daily
- Usual adult dose: 2-4 ml injection subcutaneously or intramuscularly
- Dosage for acute stone colic: 2-4 ml by slow intravenous injection
- Dosage for children based on age and weight
- Expedient combination with atropine in peptic ulcer
Interaction
- May attenuate the action of levodopa
- Additive beneficial effect with concurrent use of analgesics, antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Drotaverine HCl
