Pharmacology
- Vitamin B-Complex and Vitamin C function as cofactors of various enzymes
- Thiamine acts as a cofactor in the decarboxylation of keto acids
- Riboflavin plays a vital role in cellular respiratory reactions
- Pyridoxine takes part in decarboxylation and interconversion of amino acids
- Vitamin B12 is required for synthesis of DNA and maturation of RBCs
- Nicotinamide plays a vital role in cellular respiration
- Calcium Pantothenate functions as a cofactor for enzymes involved in transfer of acetyl groups
- Folic acid takes part in reactions involved in the synthesis of nucleotides
- Ascorbic acid takes part in biochemical reactions involving oxidation and in conversion of folic acid to folinic acid
Dosage & Administration
One capsule daily or as advised by the physician.
Interaction
- Folic acid may lower the serum concentration of phenytoin
- Pyridoxine can reduce the effect of levodopa
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this preparation
Side Effects
- Allergic reactions may occur in patients hypersensitive to any component
- Rare reports of anaphylactoid reactions following repeated injection
- Flushing, itching or burning of the skin may occur in patients susceptible to the effects of nicotinamide
Pregnancy & Lactation
Reports on safe administration of water-soluble vitamins during pregnancy
Precautions & Warnings
- Accompanied by specific therapy for the primary illness
- Treatment should be continued only until the deficiency is corrected
- Pyridoxine may reduce the therapeutic effects of levodopa in Parkinson's disease
- Riboflavin may color the urine yellow
- False positive result for sugar by Benedict's test due to the presence of ascorbic acid
