Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Adult dose: 1 tablet daily or as prescribed
Interaction
- Cholestyramine, Colestipol, Neomycin decrease absorption of β carotene
- Oral contraceptives containing Oestrogen, Tetracycline, and Aspirin reduce circulating vitamin C levels
- Vitamin E may enhance anticoagulant activity
- High doses of vitamin E can impair intestinal absorption of vitamins A and K
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any of its components
Side Effects
- Hypercarotenosis with large amounts of carotenoids
- Gastrointestinal tract upset with large doses of Vitamin C
- Renal stone formation with large doses of Vitamin C
- Diarrhoea, abdominal pain, fatigue with Vitamin E
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No teratogenic effects in humans
- Caution in prescribing to pregnant women
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in heavy smokers and alcoholics for β carotene
- Caution in patients with hyperoxaluria for Vitamin C
- Caution in patients taking anticoagulant drugs for Vitamin E
