Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Adult dose of 1 tablet daily
Interaction
- Decreased absorption of β carotene with cholestyramine, colestipol, neomycin
- Reduced vitamin C levels with oral contraceptives, tetracycline, aspirin
- Enhancement of anticoagulant activity by high doses of vitamin E
- Impairment of intestinal absorption of vitamins A and K by high doses of vitamin E
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any components
Side Effects
- Hypercarotenosis with excessive β carotene intake
- Gastrointestinal tract upset with large doses of Vitamin C
- Renal stone formation with large doses of Vitamin C
- Diarrhoea with doses over 800mg of Vitamin E
- Abdominal pain or cramps with doses over 800mg of Vitamin E
- Fatigue with doses over 800mg of Vitamin E
- Reduced resistance to bacterial infection with doses over 800mg of Vitamin E
- Transiently raised blood pressure with doses over 800mg of Vitamin E
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No teratogenic effects for β carotene, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E
- Caution in prescribing to pregnant women
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in heavy smokers and alcoholics with β carotene
- Caution in patients with hyperoxaluria with Vitamin C
- Caution in patients taking anticoagulant drugs with Vitamin E
