Description

• Carocet is a combination of antioxidant vitamins used for the prevention of coronary heart diseases, certain types of cancer, and aging, as well as to combat free radical damage caused by various factors such as excessive exercise, illness, medications, air pollution, smoke, radiation, and pesticides.

• Oral administration
• Adult dose: 1 tablet daily or as prescribed by the physician

InteractionWithOtherMedications

• Cholestyramine, Colestipol, and Neomycin may cause decreased absorption of β carotene. Circulating vitamin C levels may be reduced during prolonged administration of certain oral contraceptives and drugs like Tetracycline and Aspirin. High doses of vitamin E can interfere with the absorption of vitamins A and K.

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components

SideEffects

• Hypercarotenosis with abnormal skin coloration due to excessive carotenoid intake
• Potential gastrointestinal upset and renal stone formation with high doses of vitamin C
• Possible diarrhea, abdominal pain, fatigue, reduced resistance to bacterial infection, and transiently raised blood pressure with high doses of vitamin E

PregnancyAndLactation

• β carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E have no known teratogenic effects in humans, but caution is advised when prescribing to pregnant women

• Caution advised for heavy smokers and alcoholics using β carotene
• Vitamin C to be used cautiously in patients with hyperoxaluria
• Vitamin E should be used with caution in patients taking anticoagulant drugs due to potential enhancement of anticoagulant activity
