Description
Carocet Antioxidant Vitamin Tablets are a combination of antioxidant vitamins including β carotene, vitamin C, and vitamin E. They are used in the prevention of coronary heart diseases, certain types of cancer, aging, and free radical damage caused by various factors such as excessive exercise, illness, air pollution, smoke, radiation, and pesticides. The pharmaceutical product has pharmacological functions including conversion of beta carotene to vitamin A, biochemical functions of retinol, anti-cancer activity, powerful reducing agent properties of vitamin C, and defense against oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation by vitamin E. The dosage and administration of the tablets involve oral administration with an adult dose of 1 tablet daily. There are interactions with drugs such as cholestyramine, colestipol, neomycin, oral contraceptives containing estrogen, tetracycline, aspirin, and anticoagulant drugs. Carocet is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any of its components. Side effects may include hypercarotenosis, gastrointestinal tract upset, renal stone formation at higher doses, and caution should be taken in prescribing to pregnant women.
