Indications
- Prevention and treatment of vitamin deficiency in children and infants
Composition
- Each 0.6 ml liquid preparation of multivitamin contains:
- Vitamin A: 1.2 mg
- Vitamin D: 10 mcg
- Vitamin C: 50 mg
- Thiamine Hydrochloride: 1 mg
- Riboflavin: 0.5 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride: 1 mg
- Niacinamide: 5 mg
- Dexpantothenol: 3 mg
Description
- Combination of different vitamins used to provide vitamins not taken in through the diet and treat vitamin deficiencies caused by illness, pregnancy, poor nutrition, digestive disorders, and other conditions
Pharmacology
- Vitamin A role in the function of retina and growth and differentiation of epithelial tissue
- Vitamin B role in lipid metabolism, carbohydrate metabolism, tissue respiration, glycogenolysis, and other metabolic pathways
- Vitamin B12 maintenance of normal erythropoiesis, nucleoprotein and myelin synthesis, cell reproduction, and normal growth
- Vitamin E as an antioxidant preserving essential cellular constituents
- Vitamin C necessary for collagen formation, tissue repair, and oxidation/reduction reactions
- Vitamin D3 necessary for regulation of calcium and phosphate homeostasis, bone mineralization, and calcium absorption from the GI tract
Dosage & Administration
- Below 1 year: 9-10 drops (0.3 ml)
- 1 year and above: 23-25 drops (1.0 ml) once daily or as advised by the physician
Contraindications
- Supplemental vitamins not prescribed for patients with haemochromatosis or Wilson's disease
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Excessive doses of vitamin A and D can lead to hypervitaminosis
Side Effects
- Ordinary doses of component are usually nontoxic
