Pharmacology
- Anticholinergic drug
- Reduction of acetylcholine effect
- Relaxing effect on smooth muscle
- Inhibition of gastrointestinal propulsive motility
- Decrease in gastric acid secretion
- Control of excessive secretions in pharynx, trachea, and bronchi
Dosage & Administration
- Average adult dosage of 10mg (2 tablets) 4 times daily
Interaction
- Reduced gastric motility may interfere with absorption of other drugs
Contraindications
- Glaucoma
- Obstructive uropathy
- Obstructive disease of the gastrointestinal tract
- Intestinal atony in the elderly or debilitated patients
- Unstable cardiovascular status in acute hemorrhage
- Severe ulcerative colitis
- Toxic megacolon
- Myasthenia gravis
- Hypersensitivity

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in children and elderly
- Benign prostatic hyperplasia
- Acute MI, cardiac failure, hypertension, thyrotoxicosis
- Fever
- Angle-closure glaucoma
Overdose Effects
- Treatment similar to atropine overdose
