General Information
- Antispasmodic drug
- Reduces muscle spasm in intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
- Used for symptomatic treatment of pain related to digestive tract and biliary system disorders as well as urological and gynaecological diseases
Pharmacology
- Tiemonium Methylsulphate acts as a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell, causing inhibition of visceral spasm and pain
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet/syrup: Adult dosage is 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Children: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily through IV or IM route
- Suppository: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily through rectal route
Interaction
- Consult a registered physician before using with other drugs to avoid possible drug interaction
Contraindications
- Do not use in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contraindicated in patients with a risk of angle closure glaucoma

- Risk of hypotension & tachycardia in certain individuals

- No teratogenic effects reported in animal studies of Tiemonium Methylsulphate
- Prudence recommended for nursing mothers due to insufficient data
Precautions & Warnings
- Take caution in patients with prostate disorders, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
- Risk of visual disturbances affecting driving or machine usage
