Description
- Ostocal JR is a calcium carbonate tablet used for the treatment or prevention of calcium depletion in patients in whom dietary measures are inadequate. It is indicated for conditions such as hypoparathyroidism, achlorhydria, chronic diarrhea, vitamin D deficiency, steatorrhea, sprue, pregnancy and lactation, menopause, pancreatitis, renal failure, alkalosis, and hyperphosphataemia. The tablet reacts with gastric acid to produce a salt and water. Its recommended doses for adults are equivalent to 540-2000 mg Calcium Carbonate per day, with variations based on specific conditions such as pregnancy, lactation, chronic renal failure, and hyperidity.

Indications

Pharmacology

Interaction

- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis

Side Effects

- May cause constipation in elderly patients with renal failure
