Description
Ostogen Calcium Carbonate Tablets are indicated for the treatment or prevention of calcium depletion, management of conditions associated with hyperacidity, and fast relief of acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach, and upset stomach. They react with gastric acid to produce a salt and water, thereby increasing gastric pH and diminishing pepsin activity. The recommended doses vary depending on the specific condition, age, and individual patient. The tablets have contraindications for hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It may interact with digoxin and tetracycline preparations, affecting their absorption and cardiac effects. Adverse effects include irritation to the GI tract and constipation. The tablets can be used in pregnancy, lactation, children, and elderly patients with careful monitoring of serum calcium and phosphate levels.
