Indications
- Reduces muscle spasm in the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
- Symptomatic treatment of pain related to functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system
- Treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases
Pharmacology
- Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell causing inhibition of visceral spasm and pain
Dosage & Administration
- Adult dose: 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses
- Children dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily through Intravenous route slowly or Intramuscular route
- Suppository: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily through rectal route
Interaction
- Should not be used with other drugs without prior consultation with a registered physician
Contraindications
- Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contraindicated in patients at risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- Risk of hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No teratogenic effects reported in animal studies
- Prudence advised for nursing mothers due to insufficient data
Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients with disorders of the prostate, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
- Risks of visual disturbances making it dangerous to drive or use machines

- Paediatric use safety and effectiveness not established
- Efficacy and safety maintained with increasing age for geriatric use
