Description

  • Cinet calcium carbonate tablets are indicated for the treatment and prevention of calcium depletion in various conditions such as hypoparathyroidism, achlorhydria, chronic diarrhea, vitamin D deficiency, steatorrhea, sprue, pregnancy and lactation, menopause, pancreatitis, renal failure, alkalosis, hyperphosphataemia, hyperidity, acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach, upset stomach, hypercalcaemia, and hyperparathyroidism.

Pharmacology

  • Calcium carbonate reacts with gastric acid to produce a salt and water. It can increase gastric pH, diminishing pepsin activity. Significant absorption of oral calcium load may occur.

Recommended Doses

  • For adults: 540-2000 mg/day
  • For children: half of adult dose
  • For dietary supplement: 1250-3750 mg/day
  • In pregnancy and lactation: 1200-1500 mg/day
  • In chronic renal failure: 2.5-9.0 gm/day
  • As directed by physician for symptom relief

Interaction

  • Enhances cardiac effects of digoxin and other cardiac glycosides
