Indications
- Used for preventing or treating low blood calcium levels
- Used in conditions like osteoporosis, osteomalacia, rickets, latent tetany, postmenopausal osteoporosis, and more
Pharmacology
- Contains Calcium Orotate with orotic acid for cellular membrane transport of calcium
- Assists in the synthesis of DNA and RNA
Dosage & Administration
- 400mg: 2-3 tablets with meal as directed by physician
- 740mg: 1-2 tablets with meal as directed by physician
Interaction
- Can decrease absorption of certain drugs like biphosphonates, quinolone antibiotics, tetracycline antibiotics, levothyroxine, phenytoin, and more
Contraindications
- Contradicted in conditions like incomplete or infrequent bowel movements, kidney stone, kidney disease, increased activity of the parathyroid gland, and more
Side Effects
- Common side effects: Bloating, swelling in the abdomen
- Infrequent side effects: Formation of kidney stones, increased thirst/urination
