Indications
Reduces muscles spasm of the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
Pharmacology
Competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine, strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
Dosage and Administration
2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls syrup daily in divided doses for adults, 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses for children
Interaction
Should not be used with other drugs without consulting a registered physician
Contraindications
Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention, and in patients at risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
Risk of hypotension & tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy and Lactation
Animal studies did not reveal teratogenic effects, prudence advised for nursing mothers
Precautions and Warnings
Caution in patients with disorders of the prostate, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
Use in Special Populations
Safety and effectiveness in paediatric patients not established, maintenance of efficacy and safety in geriatric use
