Indications
- Reduces muscle spasm in the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus
- Symptomatic treatment of pain related to digestive tract and biliary system disorders
- Treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynaecological diseases
Pharmacology
- Tiemonium Methylsulphate is a competitive antagonist of Acetylcholine and Histamine
- Strengthens calcium bond with membrane phospholipids and proteins
- Inhibits intracellular contractile protein of visceral cell, causing inhibition of visceral spasm and pain
Dosage and Administration
- Tablet/Syrup: Adult dose is 2-6 tablets or 3-9 teaspoonfuls daily in divided doses
- Children dose: 3 ml/kg or 6 mg/kg body weight daily in divided doses
- Injection: 1 Tiemonium Methylsulphate Injection 3 times daily
- Suppository: 20 mg Tiemonium Methylsulphate suppository two or three times daily
Interaction
- Should not be used with other drugs without consultation with a physician
Contraindications
- Not to be used in urethroprostatic disorder involving a risk of urine retention
- Contradicted in patients at risk of angle closure glaucoma
Side Effects
- Risk of hypotension and tachycardia in certain individuals
Pregnancy and Lactation
- No teratogenic effects reported in animal studies
- Prudence recommended for nursing mothers
Precautions and Warnings
- Caution in patients with disorders of the prostate, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, renal & hepatic insufficiency
- Risks of visual disturbances may affect ability to drive or use machines

- Paediatric use: Safety and effectiveness not established
- Geriatric use: Efficacy and safety maintained with increasing age
