Pharmacology

  • Preparation of Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3
  • Necessary for bone formation and maintenance
  • Vitamin D3 aids in absorption & reabsorption of Calcium
  • Stimulates bone formation
  • Helps in bone growth
  • Aids in prevention of osteoporosis & bone fracture

Dosage & Administration

  • Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice daily
  • Best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption
  • Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: 1 tablet twice daily
  • Best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption

Interaction

  • Possible interaction with antacids containing calcium, aluminium, or magnesium
  • Interaction with other calcium supplements
  • Interaction with calcitriol & other vitamin D3 supplements
  • Interaction with digoxin, tetracycline, and related antibiotics

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia
  • Contraindicated in hyperthyroidism
  • Contraindicated in renal calculi and nephrolithiasis
  • Contraindicated in Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
