Pharmacology

  • Preparation of Calcium Carbonate and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol)
  • Necessary for bone formation and maintenance
  • Vitamin D3 helps in absorption & reabsorption of Calcium
  • Stimulates bone formation
  • Aids in bone growth
  • Aids in prevention of osteoporosis & bone fracture

Dosage & Administration

  • Dosage of Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU Tablet: 2 tablets daily or 1 tablet twice daily
  • Dosage of Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 400 IU Tablet: 1 tablet twice daily
  • Best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption

  • Possible interaction with calcium, aluminium, or magnesium containing antacids
  • Interaction with other calcium supplements
  • Interaction with calcitriol & other vitamin D3 supplements
  • Interaction with digoxin
  • Interaction with tetracycline, doxycycline, minocycline, or oxytetracycline

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in hypercalcaemia
  • Contraindicated in hyperthyroidism
  • Contraindicated in renal calculi & nephrolithiasis
  • Contraindicated in Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome
