Composition
- Calcium lactate gluconate 1000 mg
- Calcium carbonate (USP) 327 mg sourced from coral
- Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) BP 500 mg
- Vitamin D3 400 IU as Colecalciferol BP
Pharmacology
- Calcium gluconate for normal nerve, muscle, and cardiac function
- Chemopreventive for colon and other cancers
- Coral calcium for better absorption and similarity to human bone composition
- Vitamin D3 for calcium absorption and bone formation
- Vitamin C as a powerful reducing agent and defense against infections
Dosage & Administration
- 1 effervescent tablet per day for adolescents and adults
- ½ effervescent tablet per day for children
- Infant dosage as per physician's prescription
- Dissolve one tablet in a glass of water
Interaction
- Risk of hypercalcemia with thiazide diuretics
- Reduced absorption with certain foods containing oxalic acid, phosphate, or phytinic acid
- Metabolic activation effect on vitamin-D with phenytoin or barbiturates
- Reduced absorption of thyroxine, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, and iron with calcium salts
Contraindications
- Hypercalcaemia resulting from myeloma, bone metastases, or other malignant bone disease
- Sarcoidosis
- Primary hyperparathyroidism
- Vitamin-D overdosage
- Severe renal failure
- Hypersensitivity to any tablet ingredients
Side Effects
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances like constipation, flatulence, nausea, gastric pain, and diarrhea with calcium supplements
- Occasional skin rash with Vitamin-D supplements
- Hypercalciuria
- Rare cases of hypercalcaemia with long-term high-dose Vitamin-D treatment
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Supplementation under physician's direction
- Increased calcium and vitamin-D requirements during pregnancy and lactation
- Teratogenic effects of vitamin-D overdose in pregnant animals

Precautions & Warnings

- Monitoring of serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function during long-term treatment

Overdose Effects
- Hypercalcaemia due to vitamin-D toxicity
- Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, polyuria, constipation
- Vascular and organ calcification with chronic overdoses
- Treatment: cessation of calcium and vitamin-D intake, rehydration
