Indications

Pharmacology
- Calcium is used to remedy deficiency in the human body
- Vitamin-C is essential and plays a part in the body's response to stress

Dosage & Administration
- Children 3 to 7 years: ½ effervescent tablet daily
- Adults & children above 7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily
- Dissolve 1 tablet in a glass of water before consumption
Interaction
- Potentially hazardous interactions with various medications
- Potentially useful interactions with Vitamin-D, oxytocin, prostaglandins, and iron absorption
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia (e.g. in hyperparathyroidism, vitamin-D overdosage)
- Severe hypercalciuria
- Severe renal failure
- Patients with hyperoxalauria, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, or iron overload
- Larger doses may lead to gastrointestinal tract upset
Side Effects
- Mild gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, diarrhea) in rare cases
- Prolonged treatment with high doses may promote urinary tract calculi formation
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Oral calcium has shown no increase in teratogenic hazard to the fetus
- Supplemental calcium may be excreted in breast milk, with unlikely adverse effects on the neonate
- Vitamin C may be taken safely during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitoring of calcium excretion in the urine for patients with mild hypercalciuria or impaired renal function
- High doses of vitamin-D and derivatives should be avoided during treatment with Micac
- Caution in patients with severely impaired renal function due to potential increase in aluminium absorption
- Consideration of sugar content by diabetic patients
