Composition

  • 600 mg elemental Calcium in film-coated tablet
  • 200 IU Vitamin D3 in film-coated tablet
  • 40 mg Magnesium in film-coated tablet
  • 1.8 mg Manganese in film-coated tablet
  • 1 mg Copper in film-coated tablet
  • 250 mcg Boron in film-coated tablet
  • 7.5 mg Zinc in film-coated tablet
  • 600 mg elemental Calcium in effervescent tablet
  • 400 IU Vitamin D3 in effervescent tablet
  • 40 mg Magnesium in effervescent tablet
  • 1.8 mg Manganese in effervescent tablet
  • 1 mg Copper in effervescent tablet
  • 250 mcg Boron in effervescent tablet
  • 7.5 mg Zinc in effervescent tablet

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult: 1 film-coated tablet twice daily
  • preferably with a full glass of water and after meals
  • Children 3-7 years: 1 effervescent tablet daily
  • Children 7 years and older: 1-2 effervescent tablets daily

Interaction

  • risk of hypercalcemia with thiazide diuretics
  • avoiding hypocalcaemia in digitalized patients
  • reduced absorption of calcium with certain foods
  • decreased effect of Vitamin-D 3 with phenytoin or barbiturates
  • decreased effect of Vitamin D3 with glucocorticoids
  • attenuation of effects of digitalis with oral calcium combined with Vitamin-D 3
  • reduced absorption of thyroxin, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics or iron with calcium salts

Contraindications

  • absolute contraindications: hypercalcaemia, sarcoidosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, Vitamin-D 3 overdosage, severe renal failure, hypersensitivity to tablet ingredients
  • relative contraindications: osteoporosis due to prolonged immobilization, renal stones, severe hypercalciuria

Side Effects

  • mild gastro-intestinal disturbances
  • occasional skin rash with vitamin-D3 supplements
  • hypercalciuria and hypercalcaemia with long term treatment at high doses

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • increased requirements for calcium and vitamin-D 3
  • teratogenic effects of vitamin-D 3 overdosage
  • passage of vitamin-D 3 and its metabolites into breast milk

Precautions & Warnings

  • supervision needed for patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria
  • periodic checks of plasma calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion needed
  • measuring urinary calcium excretion in patients with a history of renal stones
  • monitoring serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function with long term treatment

Overdose Effects

  • nausea and vomiting
  • severe drowsiness
  • dry mouth
  • loss of appetite
  • metallic taste
  • stomach cramps
  • diarrhea
  • headache
  • constipation
