Pharmacology

• Zero Calorie artificial sweetener
• Approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar
• Obtained from sucrose with three hydroxyl groups replaced by three chlorine atoms
• Tightly bound Carbon-chlorine bonds for exceptional stability
• Not metabolized for energy, making it calorie free
• Heat stable for cooking and baking
• Passes through the body unchanged and eliminated after consumption
• No effect on tooth decay, carbohydrate metabolism, or fetal/neonatal development
• Safe for diabetes patients

Dosage & Administration

• Acceptable daily intake of 5-15 mg/kg body weight
• Usually 1 tablet (8 mg) in a cup of tea or coffee is sufficient
