Indications

Contraindications
- Inborn errors of amino acids metabolism
- Severe liver dysfunction
- Severe uremia without dialysis facilities
- Hyperosmolar nonketotic diabetic coma

- Transient increases in liver test during intravenous nutrition

Precautions & Warnings
- Increased urinary excretion of trace elements like copper and zinc
- Risk of hyperphenylalaninemia in severely ill, premature infants
- Caution in patients with diabetes, heart failure, or renal function issues
- Possible thiamine deficiency syndrome in severely malnourished patients
- Monitoring of serum potassium and blood glucose recommended
- Additional phosphate supply for patients with hypophosphatemia
Overdose Effects
- Augmented risk of nausea, vomiting, and sweating
- Potential thrombophlebitis and osmotic diuresis with dehydration
- Symptoms related to hyperglycemia
