Indications

Composition
- Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm
Pharmacology
- Oral rehydration salt preparation
- Glucose-based rehydration salt
- Treatment and prevention of dehydration from diarrhea
- Prevents acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance
Dosage
- Equivalent to patients' fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses
- Children less than 2 years: 50-100 mL (10 to 20 teaspoonful)
- Children 2 to 10 years: 100-200 mL (1/2 to 1 glass)
- Adult and children above 10 years: 200-400 mL (1 to 2 glass)
Administration
- Disperse the full contents of the sachet in 500 mL of pure drinking water
- Do not mix with hot water or heat the prepared solution
- Discard the unused prepared oral saline after 12 hours
Interaction
- No known drug interactions
Precautions & Warnings
- Depressed renal function may need supplementation with parenteral fluids
- Severe continuing diarrhea may need supplementation with parenteral fluids
- Critical fluid losses may need supplementation with parenteral fluids
