K-Saline N 10.25 gm (Oral Powder)

Indications

• Replacement of fluid and electrolyte loss
• Acute diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Dehydration
• Fluid loss conditions
• Lack of fluid intake

Composition

• 500 ml preparation
• Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
• Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
• Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
• Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm

Pharmacology

• Oral rehydration salt preparation
• Glucose based oral rehydration salt
• Treat or prevent dehydration from diarrhea
• Prevent acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance

Dosage

• Equivalent to patients' fluid requirement
• Maintain and replenish losses
• Continue breastfeeding for children
• Continue normal food for adults
• Children less than 2 years: 50-100 mL after each loose stool or vomiting
• Children 2 to 10 years: 100-200 mL after each loose stool or vomiting
• Adult and children above 10 years: 200-400 mL after each loose stool or vomiting

Administration

• Disperse sachet in 500 mL of pure drinking water
• Do not mix with hot water
• Do not heat the prepared solution
• Discard unused prepared solution after 12 hours

Interaction

• No known drug interactions

Precautions & Warnings

• Depressed renal function
• Severe continuing diarrhea
• Critical fluid losses may need parenteral fluids supplementation
