Composition
- Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm
Pharmacology
- Oral rehydration salt
- Single formulation of glucose-based ORS
- Treatment for dehydration from diarrhea
- Prevention of dehydration from diarrhea including cholera
- Prevention of acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance
Dosage
- Daily dose equivalent to patients' fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses
- Dosage for children less than 2 years
- Dosage for children 2 to 10 years
- Dosage for adults and children above 10 years
Administration
- Dispersal of sachet contents in 500 mL of pure drinking water
- Avoid mixing with hot water or heating the prepared solution
- Discard unused prepared oral saline after 12 hours

- Depressed renal function may need supplementation with parenteral fluids
