Composition
- 500 ml preparation
- Sodium Chloride BP 1.30 gm
- Potassium Chloride BP 0.75 gm
- Trisodium Citrate Dihydrate BP 1.45 gm
- Glucose Anhydrous BP 6.75 gm
Pharmacology
- Preparation of oral rehydration salt
- Single formulation for various types of diarrhea
- Prevention of dehydration including cholera
- Prevents acidosis due to electrolyte imbalance
Dosage
- Equivalent to patient's fluid requirement
- Continuation of breastfeeding during therapy for children
- Different dosage for children less than 2 years, 2 to 10 years, and adults & children above 10 years
Administration
- Dispersal of contents in 500 mL of pure drinking water
- Avoidance of mixing with hot water
- Discard unused solution after 12 hours

- No known drug interactions
Precautions & Warnings
- Supplementation may be required for severe continuing diarrhea or critical fluid losses
- Needs to be used with caution in cases of depressed renal function
