Description
Ringer's Lactate Solution is used for fluid resuscitation, electrolyte imbalance, alkalinizing, and diabetic coma. It contains Na, K, Ca, and Cl ions with specific concentrations. It has an isotonic effect and interacts with hydrogen cations. The IV dose is calculated based on estimated fluid loss. It is contraindicated in hypersensitivity. Possible side effects include febrile response, infection, and hypervolemia. It is classified as Pregnancy Category C and its excretion in human milk is unknown. It is cautioned against metabolic acidosis.
