Indications

Pharmacology

  • Glucosamine is a natural amino-sugar
  • Building block for biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs)
  • Formation of articular cartilage, ligaments, tendon, nails, and connective tissues
  • Increases cartilage production and repair
  • Activates chondrocytes in the cartilage

Dosage & Administration

  • 250/200 mg tablet: 1 to 2 tablets, three times daily
  • Dose may be adjusted according to the response of the drug and body weight
  • 750/600 mg tablet: 1 tablet two times daily or as directed by the physician
  • Dosage recommendations based on body weight

Interaction

  • No significant drug interactions reported with common medications
  • Chondroitin may enhance the blood thinning effects of anticoagulants

Contraindications

  • No known contraindications
  • Proven hypersensitivity to shellfish or sulfur

Side Effects
