Indications
- Treats viral infections due to Herpes simplex virus
- Treats Varicella zoster virus infections
- Treatment of genital herpes
- Prophylaxis in immunocompromised patients
Pharmacology
Interferes with DNA synthesis and inhibits viral replication
Dosage & Administration
- Initial herpes simplex: 200 mg 5 times daily for 5 days
- Prophylactic treatment: 200 mg 4 times daily
Interaction
Probenecid reduces Aciclovir excretion, increases plasma concentration
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Aciclovir
