Pharmacology
- Glucosamine as a fundamental building block for biosynthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs)
- Role in forming proteoglycans, the essential building block of articular cartilage
- Activates chondrocytes in the cartilage to produce GAGs and proteoglycans
- Diacerein as a treatment for Osteoarthritis with analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory activity
- Specific mode of action with disease-modifying effect in experimental models of osteoarthritis
Dosage & Administration
- One tablet twice daily with food for adults
- Not established for children and adolescents under the age of 18 years
Interaction
- Decreased absorption of Diacerein with aluminium and/or magnesium hydroxide antacids
- Increased risk of diarrhea with laxatives or antibiotics
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Glucosamine or Diacerein
