Pharmacology

  • Blocks dopamine receptors in Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone and stomach
  • Restores normal motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract

Recommended dosage

  • Adults: 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours daily (maximum dose of 80 mg daily)
  • Children: 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight every 6-8 hours daily

Interaction

  • Antagonistic drugs: Anticholinergics

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to domperidone
  • Neonates
  • Gastrointestinal hemorrhage, obstruction or perforation
  • Prolactin releasing pituitary tumor

Side effects

Pregnancy lactation
