Indications

Pharmacology

  • Promotes assembly of microtubules
  • Stabilizes microtubules
  • Inhibits normal dynamic reorganization of microtubule network
  • Induces abnormal arrays of microtubules

Dosage & Administration

  • Administered in combination with cisplatin
  • Different dosages based on treatment line
  • Different dosages for different types of cancer
  • Requires premedication to prevent hypersensitivity reactions

Interaction

  • No affected clearance by cimetidine premedication
  • Interaction with cisplatin leading to myelosuppression
  • Interaction with doxorubicin affecting elimination
  • Metabolism catalyzed by specific cytochrome P450 isoenzymes
