Ketaride 50 mg/ml (IM/IV Injection)

Indications

• Sole anesthetic agent for diagnostic and surgical procedures
• Suitable for short procedures and can be used for longer procedures with additional doses
• Application in debridement, dressings, skin grafting, neurodiagnostic procedures, eye, ear, nose, and mouth surgeries

Pharmacology

• Rapid-acting nonbarbiturate general anesthetic
• Produces anesthetic state characterized by profound analgesia
• Termed 'dissociative anesthesia' with hypnotic, analgesic, and amnesic effects

Dosage & Administration

• Rapid induction following initial intravenous injection
• Onset of action within 30 seconds
• Intravenous and intramuscular dosage ranges and maintenance of anesthesia

Interaction

• Prolonged recovery time with concurrent use of barbiturates and/or narcotics
• Clinically compatible with common general and local anesthetic agents

Contraindications

• Significant elevation of blood pressure
• Hypersensitivity to the drug

Side Effects

• Elevated blood pressure and pulse rate
• Stimulated respiration and potential severe depression or apnea
• Ocular effects, enhanced skeletal muscle tone, gastrointestinal effects

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Not recommended due to lack of established safety

Precautions & Warnings

• Use by experienced physicians in administering general anesthetics
• Use caution in surgical procedures involving visceral pain pathways

Overdose Effects

• Respiratory depression with supportive ventilation as treatment
