Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain

Description
- Chemical composition: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
- Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
- Biological activity associated with the S-form
- Linear pharmacokinetic property
- High protein binding
- Metabolized in the liver
- Excretion in the urine
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic NSAID
- Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Tablet not recommended for chronic use or doses exceeding 40 mg/day
- Injection for management of moderately severe, acute pain
- Single-dose treatment for adult and pediatric patients
- Multiple-dose treatment in different patient populations
- Ophthalmic solution dosage: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interactions
- Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anticoagulants
- Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
- Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
- Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic use before surgery
