Indications

  • Chemical composition: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
  • Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
  • Biological activity associated with the S-form
  • Linear pharmacokinetic property

Pharmacology

  • Potent analgesic NSAID
  • Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme system
  • Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
  • Tablet not recommended for chronic use or doses exceeding 40 mg/day
  • Injection for management of moderately severe, acute pain
  • Single-dose treatment for adult and pediatric patients
  • Multiple-dose treatment in different patient populations
  • Ophthalmic solution dosage: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily

Interactions

  • Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
  • Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anticoagulants
  • Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
  • Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
  • Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Prophylactic analgesic use before surgery
