Indications
- Short-term management of acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAID
- Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis
- Metabolized in the liver
- Excreted in the urine
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection may be used as single or multiple doses
- Maximum daily dose for different age and weight groups
- Recommended dosage for eye drops
Interaction
- Increase side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhance anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
- Reduce anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
- Increase risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
- Enhance toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to drug or other NSAIDs
- Not for use in children under 16 years
- Not to be used as prophylactic analgesic before surgery
