Indications
- Management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Drug of pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Chemical composition: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at its analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours for up to 7 days
- Injection recommended for management of moderately severe, acute pain
- Specific doses based on age, weight, and administration route
Interactions
- Other NSAIDs or aspirin increase side effects
- Anti-coagulants enhance anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blocker reduces anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors increase risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate enhances toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Discontinue use of topical NSAIDs in patients with evidence of corneal epithelial breakdown
- Do not administer while wearing contact lenses
