Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Biological activity associated with the S-form
- Highly protein bound
- Metabolized in the liver
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: Recommended dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection: Single or multiple doses for management of moderately severe, acute pain
- Duration of analgesic effect is usually 4 to 6 hours
- Eye Drops: Recommended administration for adults
Interaction
- Increase the side effects of Ketoroz with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhance anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
- Reduce the anti-hypertensive effect with Beta Blocker
- Increase the risk of renal impairment with ACE Inhibitors
- Enhance the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or other NSAIDs
- Not for use in children under 16 years of age
- Not for use as prophylactic analgesic before surgery
