Indications

  • Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
  • Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
  • Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies

Description

  • Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
  • Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
  • Biological activity associated with the S-form
  • Highly protein bound
  • Metabolized in the liver

Pharmacology

  • Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
  • Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet: Recommended dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours
  • Injection: Single or multiple doses for management of moderately severe, acute pain
  • Duration of analgesic effect is usually 4 to 6 hours
  • Eye Drops: Recommended administration for adults

Interaction

  • Increase the side effects of Ketoroz with other NSAIDs or aspirin
  • Enhance anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
  • Reduce the anti-hypertensive effect with Beta Blocker
  • Increase the risk of renal impairment with ACE Inhibitors
  • Enhance the toxicity of methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the drug or other NSAIDs
  • Not for use in children under 16 years of age
  • Not for use as prophylactic analgesic before surgery
