Indications

Short-term management of post-operative pain
Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by allergies

Description

Belongs to the pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAIDs
Inhibits prostaglandin synthesis
Metabolized in the liver
Excreted in the urine

Pharmacology

Potent analgesic
Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
Injection dosage based on age, renal function, and body weight
Eye drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily

Interaction

NSAIDs or aspirin increase side effects
Anti-coagulants enhance anti-coagulant effect
Beta Blocker reduces anti-hypertensive effect
ACE Inhibitors increase risk of renal impairment
Methotrexate enhances toxicity

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to this drug or other NSAIDs
Not for use in children under 16 years of age
Not for use as prophylactic analgesic before surgery
