Description

Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
- Inhibits the cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage and administration
- Recommended dosage of 10 mg every 4-6 hours (tablet)
- Single or multiple doses for postoperative pain management (injection)
- Specific dosages for different age groups and conditions
- Eye drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- Increase in side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
- Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with beta blockers
- Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE inhibitors
- Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery
