Description
- Dopamine antagonist medication
- Relieves nausea and vomiting
- Blocks dopamine receptors in Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone and stomach
- Restores normal motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract
- Facilitates gastric emptying
- Enhances antral and duodenal peristalsis
- Regulates contraction of the pylorus
- Increases esophageal peristalsis
- Lowers esophageal sphincter pressure
- Prevents regurgitation of gastric content
- Recommended to be taken 15-30 minutes before meals
- Usual recommended oral dose: 10-20 mg for adults, 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight for children
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or gastrointestinal hemorrhage, mechanical obstruction, perforation

Dosage & Administration

- Rectal administration in adults and children
- Maximum treatment period for acute nausea and vomiting is 12 weeks

- Gastrointestinal stimulation might be dangerous
- Patients with prolactin releasing pituitary tumor
