Description
- Indicated for short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
- Belongs to pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAIDs
- Chemically known as 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Pharmacological activity associated with the S-form
- Largely metabolized in the liver
- Primarily excreted in urine
Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease in eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Pharmacology
- Potent analgesic
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect at its analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dose is 10 mg tablet every 4-6 hours for up to 7 days
- Injection may be used for single or multiple doses for managing acute pain
- Single-dose treatment: Different doses for patients based on age and condition
- Multiple-dose treatment: Different doses based on age and condition
- Eye Drops: Recommended 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interactions
- NSAIDs or aspirin increase the side effects of Roket
- Anti-coagulants enhance anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blockers reduce the anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors increase the risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate enhances the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Not recommended for children under 16 years of age
- Contraindicated as prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Eye Drops: Discontinue use if evidence of corneal epithelial breakdown, avoid while wearing contact lenses
