Description

Dosage
- Adult dose: 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours
- Adult rectal dose: 30-60 mg every 4-8 hours
- Maximum daily dose for adults: 80 mg
- Pediatric dose based on body weight
- Administration 15-30 minutes before meals
- Duration of treatment in acute nausea and vomiting: maximum 12 weeks
Interaction
- Potential antagonism with anticholinergic drugs
- Oral bioavailability lowered when given with antacids and antisecretory drugs
- Metabolized through CYP3A4 pathway
- Inhibitors of CYP3A4 may increase plasma levels of domperidone
- Minor influence on drugs already stabilized like digoxin and paracetamol
- Does not potentiate the action of neuroleptics or dopaminergic agonists
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug

- Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
- Mechanical obstruction or perforation
- Prolactin releasing pituitary tumor (prolactinoma)
Side Effects
