Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relief of pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decrease eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Description
- Belongs to the pyrrolo-pyrrole group of NSAIDs
- Chemically known as 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid
- Acts as a peripherally acting analgesic
- Highly protein bound and metabolized in the liver
Pharmacology
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet recommended dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection dosages based on age and condition
- Eye drops dosage: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- Interacts with other NSAIDs or aspirin, Anti-coagulants, Beta Blockers, ACE Inhibitors, Methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
- Not recommended for children under 16 years
- Not to be used as prophylactic analgesic before surgery

- Nausea, vomiting, gastrointestinal bleeding
- Peptic ulcer, pancreatitis, anxiety, drowsiness
- Headache, excessive thirst, fatigue, bradycardia
