Domilux 5 mg/5 ml Suspension is a medication primarily used to treat dyspeptic symptoms, acute nausea and vomiting, Parkinson's disease-induced symptoms, and to speed barium transit in radiological studies. It acts as a dopamine antagonist and is available in oral and rectal forms. The medication has specific dosing instructions and interacts with various other drugs. It has contraindications, precautions, and potential side effects.
DosageAndAdministration
Domperidone should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals. The usual recommended oral dose for adults is 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours daily, with a maximum daily dose of 80 mg. Children's doses vary based on age and weight. Rectal administration is also an option.

Pharmacology
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that blocks dopamine receptors in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ) and stomach. It affects the motility and tone of the upper gastrointestinal tract, gastric emptying, esophageal peristalsis, and lower esophageal sphincter pressure.
Interaction
Concurrent use of anticholinergic drugs may reduce the effectiveness of domperidone. Antacids and antisecretory drugs should not be given simultaneously. Inhibition of CYP3A4 by certain drugs may increase domperidone plasma levels. Domperidone could potentially influence the absorption of concomitantly orally administered drugs.
