Description
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Chemical Composition
- Pyrolo-pyrrole group
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID)
- 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid
- 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol
Pharmacological Action
- Inhibits synthesis of prostaglandins
- Peripherally acting analgesic
- Potent analgesic of the NSAIDs
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Demonstrates minimal anti-inflammatory effect
Dosage
- Tablet dose: 10 mg every 4-6 hours
- Injection dose: single or multiple doses for acute pain management
- IV bolus must be given over no less than 15 seconds
- IM administration should be given slowly and deeply into the muscle
- Eye drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interactions
- NSAIDs or aspirin increase side effects of Toradolin
- Anti-coagulants enhance anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blockers reduce the anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors increase the risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate enhances the toxicity of methotrexate
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to drug or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery

Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients over 65 years of age
- Caution in patients with active or suspected peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, asthma, or liver dysfunction
- Discontinue use of topical NSAIDs in patients with corneal epithelial breakdown
- Avoid administering while wearing contact lenses
