Description
- Pyrrolo-pyrrole Group Drug
- NSAID
- Chemical Name: 5 Benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid
Indications
- Short-term management of moderate to severe acute post-operative pain
- Relieves pain, inflammation, and light sensitivity after ocular surgery
- Decreases eye inflammation or redness caused by seasonal allergies
Pharmacology
- Inhibits cyclooxygenase enzyme system
- Minimally anti-inflammatory at analgesic dose
Dosage & Administration
- Tablet: Recommended dose of 10 mg every 4-6 hours for up to 7 days
- Injection for moderate to severe acute pain management
- Eye Drops: 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily
Interaction
- Enhanced side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
- Anti-coagulants enhance anti-coagulant effect
- Beta Blockers reduce anti-hypertensive effect
- ACE Inhibitors increase risk of renal impairment
- Methotrexate toxicity enhancement
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to drug or other NSAIDs
- Children under 16 years of age
- Prophylactic analgesic before surgery
