Description

  • Chemical composition: 5 benzoyle-2,3-dihydro-1H-pyrroligine-1-carboxylic acid, compound with 2 - amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol (1:1)
  • Biological activity associated with the S-form
  • Linear pharmacokinetic properties
  • Highly protein bound and largely metabolized in the liver
  • Metabolites and unchanged drugs excreted in the urine

Mode of Action

  • Inhibition of cyclooxygenase enzyme system
  • Inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis
  • Minimal anti-inflammatory effect at analgesic dose

Dosage & Administration

  • Tablet: Recommended dose is 10 mg every 4-6 hours for short-term use (up to 7 days)
  • Injection: Single or multiple doses for acute pain management, with specific dosing guidelines for different patient populations and age groups
  • Eye Drops: Recommended administration frequency of 1 drop in each eye 4 times daily

Interaction

  • Increased side effects with other NSAIDs or aspirin
  • Enhanced anti-coagulant effect with anti-coagulants
  • Reduced anti-hypertensive effect with Beta Blocker
  • Increased risk of renal impairment with ACE Inhibitors
  • Enhanced toxicity of methotrexate

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ketorolac or other NSAIDs
  • Use in children under 16 years of age
  • Prophylactic use before surgery

Precautions & Warnings

  • Immediate discontinuation and close monitoring in case of corneal epithelial breakdown with Eye Drops
  • Avoidance of administration while wearing contact lenses with Eye Drops
